Well, after like 2 full weeks in Kuantan, we finally visited the Gelora Park in Kuantan last weekend. It's one of the big parks in kuantan, just off the main road towards the Telok Chempedak beach.

We initially planned to enjoy the beach there... but this is definately not a beach park... the beach is, let's say... not so clean... cuz i think its kinda near some river outlets and near town and such... so we stayed closer inland... where it was all fine... phoebe enjoyed it though, happily played with the fine sand... as u can see from the pix.

The park was beautiful with great trees and some lakes... looks man-made.... they stank too... i think it's due to very bad maintenance... but the view was great... a jogging path snakes all about the park, with a few children play areas scattered around... not forgetting the awesome sea breezes... really awesome wind!

Another highlight was the night market, held every Sunday near the park area... starts about 5.00pm... Joanna recommended the murtabak (mince chicken with onions, potatoes & eggs wrapped in dough)... it was OK lah... Lekor's were abundant too... i recommend u go early just for the parking... walk the park then go check out night market. (It's basically like KL's pasar malam)

We'll be back for the children's playground and the view... but not the beach...

haha.... found this old worn out sign in Teruntum Park, Kuantan.

This park had a mini zoo, children's playground, horse riding and a unique traffic learning pathway for kids. I myself have played in one back in Ipoh, and was surprised to find another similar one here in Kuantan... must have been a govenrment effort way back in colaboration with Shell... hence the above mentioned worn-off sign...

They also provided battery powered vehicles for kids to ride on. But i guess the overseers didn't have enough manpower cuz they closed almost 2/3 of the paths... and only allowed specific routes to be taken... If u want to bring your kids here to play... come early... by the time we got there... 6.30pm... the batteries were almost out of juice...

There were lots of childen slides and such all around too... and also a stall selling lekor and coconut drinks... will try one day... We stayed till dusk... cuz Hannah and phoebe was busy climbing up and down a play contraption.

My first trip to Cherating... Julie has been with her school friends eons ago though...

Anyways... it was a Public Holiday... so we decided to take the drive to Cherating... u could say the distance was like driving from KL to Klang... within 30-40 mins and we had arrived... talk about near.

First impressions... huh? what's so great... like Teluk Chempedak in Kuantan only... maybe because it was low tide and the sea was darn far off... plus look! big waves!... definately couldn't swim during moonsoon time.

Early that morning, the sky were all dark and gloomy and we thought oh NO!... all our plans for naught...but we decided... ahh... just go lah... I think God knew better and man... all i can say is, it was super windy and cloudy so walking the beach was a totally enjoyable time... minus the heat! Thank You GOD!

The beach was clean... and had tons of small small crabs... and interestingly EMPTY! no one at all... maybe we came too early or something... we had the beach totally to ourselves...

One portion of the beach was filled with these... the tell tale signs of "treasure" lying under the sand...

Phoebe and Hannah enjoyed it... walking on the beach collecting wierd flat shells and also us catching hermit crabs... Hannah even found a HUGE hard shelled la-la I think. Here are the interesting hermit crabs...

We later found the "Can't Forget" seafood restaurant nearby(recommended in another blog, for pictorial review go Here), We had the local "Chicken Meat" fish... very interesting... and veggies... the fish turned out very nice and HUGE... so after a very satisfied lunch we headed home... by this time the sun was up and was really getting warm...

If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer. Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn’t answer the question correctly good for you. If you got the answer correct, please let me know so I can take you off of my email list unless that will tick you off, then I’ll just be extra nice to you from now on. Be sure to share the test.
